PHILADELPHIA - Junior Paul Cusick was named the Big 5 Pitcher of the Week following his impressive pitching performance last week as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Cusick pitched twice last week and on Sunday the right hander dominated Mount St. Mary's, earning his first win of the year with a complete game three-hit shutout. Cusick also struck out ten batters in his seven innings of work while walking just two. He retired eight of the first nine batters of the game and only allowed one runner to reach third base. In his other appearance of the week, Cusick went 1.1 innings of scoreless relief in a 12-6 win over Temple. On the week he threw 8.1 innings, striking out ten and walking two with a 0.00 ERA.
It is the second straight week a member of the Quaker pitching staff has been named the Big 5 Pitcher of the Week, as sophomore Vince Voiro received the honor last week.
