Philadelphia University of Pennsylvania sophomore goalkeeper Daniel Cepero was named the Philadelphia Soccer Seven Player of the Week after recording his fifth shutout of the season. He was also named to the Ivy League Honor Roll.
“It’s a well-derseved honor for Danny. He’s been outstanding in the net for us thus far this year,” Head Coach Rudy Fuller said. “I look forward to him continuing the run over the remainder of the season.”
Cepero continued his impressive play by posting a shutout in the Quakers, 2-0 win vs. Columbia on Oct. 9. He made six saves en route to his fifth shutout of the season. He is a big reason why the Quakers are in the midst of a six-game unbeaten streak. During that stretch, he has allowed just two goals (0.32 goals against average) while stopping 27 shots. Overall this season, Cepero has a .75 GAA and 39 saves.
Penn looks to remain undefeated in the Ivy League on Oct. 17 when it travels to Dartmouth. The Quakers return home on Oct. 20 to take on No. 24 Maryland at 2 p.m. at Rhodes Field.
