Danielle Kamis Finishes First in Sabre at Fencing Regionals

MADISON, N.J. – Six women’s fencers earned top-seven finishes in their weapon at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals in Madison, N.J. on Saturday. The Quakers were highlighted by freshman Danielle Kamis – she won nine bouts on the day to finish in first place in sabre. She was followed closely by teammate Alexis Baran who came in second place with eight victories.

All three women who competed on foil finished in the top seven. Ilana Sinkin and Zoya Abdikulova each won seven bouts and took home a tie for second place. Abby Emerson finished in seventh place.

Stephanie Wheeler won six bouts in epee to claim a seventh-place finish of her own.

The women await word on selections to the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio from March 13-16. Selections to NCAAs are based on a weighted system that takes into consideration a fencer’s record in the regular season and their results at regionals. Selections will be announced this week.
