PHILADELPHIA - Senior Will Davis was named the Big 5 Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading the Quakers to a 2-1 weekend in their first home series of the year.
Davis was an impressive 6-for-10 on the weekend with a double and two home runs. He also drove in a team-high five runs, scored four times and stole his base of the year. The catcher also walked twice for a .667 on-base percentage and didn't strike out in any at bat during the week. His best game of the week came in the final contest of the weekend as he went 4-for-4 with two runs and hit a three-homer in the eighth to break open a close game.
Davis is the second player this season to receive Big 5 Player of the Week honors this year as classmate Jeremy Maas earned the award back on March 8.
Penn is 8-10 on the season and opens their Ivy season this weekend when they host Harvard and Dartmouth on Friday and Saturday.
