Davis Named Preseason Second-Team All-America

BSN All-America Teams

PHILADELPHIA - Following a first-team All-Ivy campaign where he helped guide the University of Pennsylvania football team to the 2012 Ivy League title, rising junior Daniel Davis earned a preseason second-team All-America selection from Beyond Sports Network (BSN).

This marks the second preseason honor for Davis, who was also named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) watch list for the 2013 CFPA Linebacker Award, given to the top individual linebacker in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

Davis is the only Ivy League linebacker named among the 35 players on the watch list. Last season, he helped guide the Quakers to the 2012 Ivy League title and was named first-team All-Ivy as a sophomore. The Norman, Okla., native was third on the team with 58 tackles, which was tops among linebackers. He also led Penn and finished fourth in the Ivies with 13.5 tackles for loss, including 2.0 sacks.

Davis and the Quakers will begin their defense of the Ivy title when they open the 2013 campaign against Lafayette on Sept. 21 at historic Franklin Field.
