CFPA Watch List
PHILADELPHIA - Rising junior Dan Davis was named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) watch list for the 2013 CFPA Linebacker Award, given to the top individual linebacker in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
"Congratulations to Daniel Davis on earning a spot on the 2013 CFPA Watch List," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. "Davis will likely play an important role in Penn's run at the Ivy League title in 2013."
Davis is the only Ivy League linebacker named among the 35 players on the watch list. Last season, he helped guide the Quakers to the 2012 Ivy League title and was named first-team All-Ivy as a sophomore. The Norman, Okla., native was third on the team with 58 tackles, which was tops among linebackers. He also led Penn and finished fourth in the Ivies with 13.5 tackles for loss, including 2.0 sacks.
College Football Performance Awards, the largest awards organization in D-I college football, selects players exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.
The full list of 2013 recipients, including the 2013 CFPA FCS Awards, will be announced on Jan. 8, 2014.
Davis and the Quakers will begin their defense of the Ivy title when they open the 2013 campaign against Lafayette on Sept. 21 at historic Franklin Field.
