PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly awards in women's soccer, and Penn's Alex Dayneka has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
The freshman earned her first honor of the season after scoring the only goal inPenn's 1-0 win over Princeton Saturday night at Rhodes Field. The goal was Dayneka's first of the season and came in the 10th minute of play. The goal ended a shutout streak that the Tigers had built up to more than 621 minutes.
The Ivy League Player of the Week was Harvard's Melanie Baskind.
Penn finished the regular season with a 10-4-2 record, earning 10 victories for the seventh time in program history. The Quakers went 4-3-0 in Ivy League play to finish third, behind champion Harvard and second-place Yale.
