DiMaggio Earns Ivy League Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League office has announced its Players of the Week for football, and Penn running back Michael DiMaggio has received the award as the Rookie of the Week.

It marks the second time this season DiMaggio has been so honored; he also received the weekly award following Penn's win over Georgetown.

DiMaggio received the honor this week despite the Quakers' 23-7 loss at Harvard. Pressed into action when start Joe Sandberg was injured on the first play of the game, DiMaggio ran 20 times for 71 yards. He also scored his second collegiate touchdown for Penn's only score of the day.

The other conference player of the week honors went to Brown's Bobby Sewall (Offensive), Cornell's Graham Rihn (Defensive) and Cornell's Shane Kilcoyne (Special Teams).

Penn (3-6, 2-4) closes out the 2007 season this weekend, hosting Cornell in the annual Trustees' Cup battle on Franklin Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
