PHILADELPHIA - Seniors Ian Dobbins and Tyler Drake were each added to FCS Defensive Award Watch Lists by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) on Wednesday. Dobbins was added to the Defensive Back Award Watch List, while Drake was added to the Linebacker Award Watch List. The award winners will be announced on Jan. 13.
Dobbins leads the team and is 11th in the nation with three interceptions this season. The starting safety has also added 27 tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss, four passes defended and a fumble recovery.
Drake is 11th in the FCS with 6.5 sacks this year -- already the most for any Penn player in a season since Steve Lhotak in 2003. He leads the Quakers and is fourth in the Ivies with 53 tackles this year. He is also tops on the team and second in the league in sacks and tackles for loss. The linebacker's three forced fumbles this season are tied for the most in the Ivy League.
Behind Drake and Dobbins, Penn's defense ranks seventh in the nation in takeaways. That duo has combined for seven of the team's 19 takeaways through the first seven games.
This week is Homecoming at Franklin Field. The Quakers host arch rival Princeton on Nov. 7. The game will be televised by the American Sports Network and can also be seen on the Ivy League Digital Network. Kickoff is slated for noon.
