PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly award winners in men's basketball, and University of Pennsylvania freshman guard Jackson Donahue was named co-Ivy League Rookie of the Week along with Cornell's Matt Morgan.
Donahue earned his first weekly award of the season after a pair of outstanding performances last week. In a loss at No. 16 Villanova last Monday, the freshman went off for a team-high 18 points, which matched his point total combined for the Quakers' first 11 games. Donahue complemented that performance with 17 more points in Penn's 80-45 win over Binghamton on Saturday. Donahue went 9-of-21 on three-point shots last week, and also had four assists and four steals.
Yale's Justin Sears was named the Ivy League Player of the Week.
Penn returns to action on Saturday, hosting Princeton at The Palestra. Arguably the Ivy League's most revered rivalry tips off at 4:30 p.m., following the Penn-Princeton women's game which starts at 1 p.m. Saturday's men's game will be televised live on FOX Sports 1.
