PHILADELPHIA - Rising senior Tyler Drake earned the first preseason honors of the year for the University of Pennsylvania football team as he was named honorable mention Preseason All-America by USA College Football on Tuesday.
As a junior, Drake earned his first career All-Ivy accolade with honorable mention honors following the 2014 season. He led the Quakers and finished second in the league with 6.0 sacks. He tied for the team lead with 8.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles, and was tied for second on the team with 58 tackles.
The 26th Annual USA College Football FCS Preseason All-Americans are presented by American Football Networks. With 12,297 student-athletes competing on the gridiron for 122 programs, USA College Football recognizes just the top four percent (4%) of the returning players.
The Quakers will officially begin their 139th season with practice in late August. The first game is slated for Sept. 19 at Lehigh and the home opener is two weeks later against Dartmouth on Oct. 3. Game times as well as radio and television schedules will be announced later this summer.
