Erin Brennan Earns Ivy League, National Honors

PHILADELPHIA --The Ivy League has released its weekly honors for women’s lacrosse, and Penn freshman Erin Brennan has been named the Offensive Player of the Week. It touched off a string of awards for Brennan, whosubsequently washonored as the Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week as well as the and Rookie of the Week.

This marks the second straight week a Penn player has earned the Ivy League’s offensive honor – Becca Edwards took it last Monday – and the fourth straight week a Penn player has been honored by the Ivy office.

Brennan earned the honor for her performances against Princeton and Brown, as the Quakers swept through both to finish off their third straight undefeated Ivy League campaign. Against the Tigers, she notched a hat trick and two assists. Brennan followed that up with two goals and two assists against Brown. For the season, she is third on the team with 34 points, and fourth with 20 goals. Brennan added five draw controls in the two games –- she has taken the draw this season, helping Penn win 60 percent of the draws.

The Ivy League’s Defensive Player of the Week was Columbia goalkeeper Emma Mintz.

Penn (13-0) remains unbeaten overall, and has set the table for a showdown with the team it met in last year’s NCAA final, Northwestern. The Wildcats, winners of the last four NCAA titles, are 15-0 and have been ranked No. 1 in the nation all year.
