PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis senior Sol Eskenazi will be honored with the Trustees’ Council of Penn Women Athletic Award of Excellence this coming Friday,April 17,at the organization’s spring conference.

Eskenazi has played every match of her career at Penn in the No. 1 position in singles and doubles for the Quakers. She currently holds a career overall singles record of, 75-28, and a career overall doubles record of, 72-26.

The Buenos Aires, Argentina native has been named First-team All-Ivy in singles all three years to this point, becoming the first Penn player since 2008 to receive the honor three-straight times. She was also named First-team All-Ivy in doubles those years, completing the feat with three different doubles partners. She became the first player in program history with three-straight First-team All-Ivy selections in doubles.

If Eskenazi would earn First-team All-Ivy in singles in 2015, she would become just the third Penn woman to win first-team All-Ivy in singles all four years of her career, joining Barrie Bernstein (1992-95) and Yulia Rivelis (2005-08). If she would earn First-team All-Ivy in doubles this spring, she would become the first player in Penn women’s tennis history to earn that recognition all four years.

Other career highlights for Eskenazi are being named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, ITA Northeast Region Rookie of the Year, and named an ITA Scholar Athlete in her freshman season. As a sophomore she and junior Sonya Latycheva were ITA Northeast Region Doubles Champions. Eskenazi has also been named team MVP by her teammates for three consecutive seasons.

Alongside Eskenazi, the Penn 2015 Ivy Championship women’s squash team, and 2014 Quaker women’s lacrosse team will also be recognized by the TCPW.
