PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis teamfound success for a second consecutive day at the 18th Annual Cissie Leary Memorial Invitational at the Hamlin Tennis Center.
With play beginning outside before moving indoors due to rain on Saturday, senior Sol Eskenazi won both her quarterfinal and semifinal matches to advance to her second consecutive Flight 'A' finals match.She will take on Princeton's Lindsay Graff in the final. Last year, Eskenazi found her way to the finals where she was slated to take on fellow Quaker Sonya Latycheva. Eskenazi won the tournament by default when Latycheva withdrew due to injury.
Also in Flight 'A', sophomore Kana Danielfell tothe Tigers' Graff in the quarterfinals,ending her winning streak. Daniel and Eskenazi will represent Penn in the back draw doubles semifinals tomorrow morning after winning two doubles matches on Saturday.
In Flight 'B', sophomoreLuba Vazhenina won her quarterfinal match against Amanda Lin from Harvard, 6-2, 6-4, before losing atight semifinal match against Sylvia Li from Harvard.
Freshman Lina Qostal's run in Flight 'B' ended after a competitive quarterfinal match against the first seed Jang-Milsten, who later moved on to the finals.
In additional action,freshman Nicole Berkman beat Penn State’s Rivers 6-3, 6-0, en route to winning her first collegiate match.
