Feeney Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA -The Ivy League has announced its weekly award winners in men's lacrosse, and Penn freshman goalie Brian Feeney has earned Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Feeney had nine saves and allowed just four goals in the Quakers' 9-4 Ivy League win over Dartmouth on Saturday. The victory was Penn's third in a row and pushed the Red and Blue to 8-4 overall. In addition, the Quakers finished the Ivy League season at 4-2, their best league record since 2006, and they can finish no worse than second in the conference. That will be Penn's best Ivy League finish since 1989.

Feeney -- who also had a pair of saves in Penn's midweek win at Saint Joseph's -- has played all but 15 minutes between the pipes this season. He is among the national leaders with a 7.28 goals-against average, and has a .488 save percentage for the season.

Penn will conclude its 2011 regular season on Saturday at No. 10 Virginia; following that, the Quakers head up to Ithaca, N.Y. for the second annual Ivy League Tournament. That will take place May 6 and 8 at Cornell's Schoellkopf Field.
