PHILADELPHIA – Following four weekends filled with dual meets, the University of Pennsylvania men’s and women’s fencing teams will enjoy a slight change of pace at this Sunday’s United States Collegiate Squad Championships (USCSC) in Princeton N.J.
The Olympic-style event features teams competing in each weapon in a bracket format. Competition will begin at 9 a.m. with finals at 11 a.m. (men's foil and women's saber), 12:30 p.m. (women's épée, men's épée, women's foil) and 1:30 (men's saber). Live results can be found by clicking HERE.
The Quakers will be joined by Brandeis, Columbia, Incarnate Word, Johns Hopkins, NYU, Princeton, Sacred Heart, St. John's, Vassar, and Yale.
Penn has put together great performances at this event over the last few seasons. Most notably, the third-ranked Quakers captured the overall title on the men’s side last year, taking first on both foil and sabre, and third on epee. The women's team earned the epee title in 2015, en route to placing second overall.
Both squads are coming off excellent performances last weekend, as the men tallied a 9-0 record over two days of dual matches and the women went 6-3. The men’s squad is now 28-2 on the season.
