Fencing Tangles With Princeton and Ohio State

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men’s and women’s fencing teams hosted Princeton and Ohio State in The Coach Dave Micahnik Fencing Center on Saturday to open the season. Competing in both team and individual competition, the men and women fared well against traditionally tough opponents.

Penn put some fresh faces into the lineup, thrown right into it against opponents which included defending Ivy champion Princeton on the women's side and an Ohio State sqaud which annually finishes top-five at NCAAs.

The Quakers split with the men from Princeton and OSU, falling to Princeton, 15-12, and defeating OSU, 15-12. The women were unable to find a win in their opening duals as they fell to Princeton, 19-8, and Ohio State, 16-11.

The Red and Blue have plenty of time to prepare for their next dual, which doesn’t take place until the New Year when the teams travel to State College for the Penn State Invitational on January 12.
