WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Penn field hockey team's offensive struggles continued Wednesday afternoon at West Chester University, as the Quakers were shut out for the fifth time in six games and fell to the Rams, 1-0.
West Chester's goal came in the 21st minute, when the Rams were awarded a penalty stroke. Leah Angstadt made good on the stroke, beating Penn goalkeeper Danielle Rothman.
Penn took eight penalty corners in the game, compared to five by West Chester, and had three shots in the first 11 minutes. However, the Quakers were silenced after that, with just one shot the rest of the way. Kirstin Snyder had two of the shots, while Julie Tahan and Sunny Stirewalt had one each.
WCU (4-6) took nine shots on the day. Both goalies -- Rothman for Penn, Kristen Arnold for West Chester -- had three saves.
Penn returns to action Sunday, playing another non-conference game at Temple. The teams will face off at 1 p.m.
