Field Hockey Blanks Yale, 2-0 for Seventh Shutout of the Season

New Haven, Conn. – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team recorded its seventh shutout of the season and fifth in-a-row with a 2-0 victory over Ivy League rival Yale on Saturday afternoon at Johnson Field. Seniors Liz Lorelli and Jess Kaylor scored for the Red and Blue.

The Quakers (11-4, 4-1 Ivy League) scored the first goal of the game with 5:55 left in the first half. Lorelli tipped in a shot by senior Bernice Raveche. Raveche’s assist was the first point of her collegiate career. Kaylor scored her first collegiate goal three minutes into the second half to give the Quakers a 2-0 lead. With 15 minutes left in the second stanza, junior Kelly McFadden made a key defensive save on a Yale (5-8, 1-4 Ivy League) penalty corner to keep the Bulldogs off the board.

Sophomore Elizabeth Schlossberg recorded three saves in her sixth career shutout. Kate Crandall made three stops for the Bulldogs.

The Quakers return to Franklin Field for their final home contest of the season on Oct. 31. Penn will take on Ivy foe Brown on senior day at noon.
