PHILADELPHIA Senior co-captain Lea Salese scored her second goal of the season for the University of Pennsylvania field hockey team, but it wasn’t enough for the Quakers who fell to cross-town rival Drexel, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.
Salese put the Red and Blue (1-1) on the board 4:30 into the first half, scoring on pass from senior Kristen Gray. Gray had four shots in the game, while Salese, Cara Calahan, Kelly McFadden and Tracy Statter each had two
Cassie Prentiss answered for Drexel (2-1) with an unassisted tally with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Then, just over two minutes into the second half, Rachel Bloemaker found Amanda Mouser for the eventual game-winning goal. Bloemaker later provided insurance for the Dragons, finding the back of the cage just before the second half came to a close to secure the win.
Junior Elizabeth Schlossberg made four saves in the cage for the Red and Blue, while Colleen McAndrew made seven saves for the home team.
Penn plays the third game of their four-game road trip at Saint Joseph’s Wednesday. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
