PISCATAWAY, N.J. – A day after defeating Brown in an Ivy League match on Senior Day, the University of Pennsylvania field hockey team fell to Rutgers on the road Sunday afternoon, 3-0.
Penn (8-8, 3-3 Ivy) totaled 14 shots, three on goal, led by senior Alex Iqbal and freshman Alexa Hoover. Despite the opportunities, the Quakers were unable to find the back of the net during the contest.
Rutgers (9-9) scored two goals in the first half and one in the second half on its way to victory, sparked by their leading scorer, Katie Champion. The junior scored the Scarlet Knights’ first and last goals of the game pushing her season total to 10. Sophomore Rachel Yaney scored Rutgers other goal in the game, her fourth of the season.
With one regular season game remaining, the Quakers will now turn their attention towards Ivy rival Princeton. Penn and the Tigers square off this coming Saturday, Nov. 8, at Princeton.
