HANOVER, N.H. The Penn field hockey team fell at Dartmouth Saturday afternoon, 3-2. Late second-half goals from senior Margaretha Ehret and freshman Britney Van Valkenburgwere not enough for the Quakers, who fell behind 3-0 before threateningthe Big Green.
Dartmouth got on the board in the opening minutes when Sarah Alderman tipped in a shot from teammate Ashley Hines, and then the Big Green notched another goal before going into halftime, 2-0.
Dartmouth started the second half with an insurance goal in the 39th minute.
Penn finally found the back of the net at the end of the game with two goals in the last ten minutes. The first came when Ehret scored from the top of the circle off a pass from Abigail Egan, and then eight minutes later-- with just seconds left on the clock --Van Valkenburg notched her first collegiate goal of her career and Penn’s second of the game.
The Quakers are now 1-2 in the Ivy League and 2-8 overall. Theywill take a break from Ivy play, as they arescheduled to take on No. 1 Maryland in College Park next Sunday, Oct. 12.
