Field Hockey Heads South to Face William and Mary, Davidson

- The Penn field hockey team hits the road to Williamsburg, Va. this weekend to take on William and Mary and Davidson in a round-robin format at William and Mary's Busch Field. The Quakers face the Tribe at 3 p.m. on Saturday and the Davidson Wildcats at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Red and Blue look to capture Colleen Fink's first win as Penn's head coach.

Penn's Week in Review: The Quakers opened the season with an 8-3 loss at the hands of Rider on Sept. 6. Freshman Sunny Stirewalt, sophomore Kyle deSandes-Moyer, and senior Laurel McGarvie netted goals for the Red and Blue. McGarvie also added an assist and a defensive save.

Scouting the Tribe: William and Mary enters the weekend with a 1-3 record, after falling to Kent State and topping Rutgers on opening weekend, and then dropping two to Northwestern and Radford last weekend. Senior Erica Eng leads the team in scoring with two goals.

Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson is off to a fast start this fall with a 4-0 mark, including shutouts over Bryant, Saint Francis (Pa.), and Lafayette. The Wildcats have also received votes in the national polls after outscoring their first four opponents, 16-2. Jennie Mostellar leads the squad with five goals and an assist, while goalkeeper Sarah Fisher is the reigning NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week, stopping 18 out of 20 shots against her.
