Field Hockey Heads to Brown

PHILADELPHIA - As the 2009 season winds down, the Penn field hockey team will travel to Providence, R.I. to face Ivy foe Brown Saturday at noon. The Quakers (4-10, 1-3) have three games remaining this year and look to improve their record while keeping Brown (5-10, 0-5) at the bottom of the conference standings.

Penn holds a 22-7-3 advantage in the all-time series with the Bears, including winning the past three meetings. Last year the Quakers defeated Brown 2-1 in overtime on Nov. 2.

With Wednesday's Penn-Columbia contest getting postponed for the second time, last Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to Yale marks the Quakers' most recent game. Brown comes into this weekend's game off a midweek 4-2 win over Holy Cross.

The Red and Blue are led offensively by Kelsey Tahan with 13 point on five goals and three assists. Laurel McGarvie and Sarah Hasson have also contributed five goals a piece. Goalkeeper Kieran Sweeney has spent 969:40 minutes in the cage making 88 saves for a .746 save percentage.

Leslie Springmeyer leads the Bears with nine goals and nine assists, while Kit Masini and Katie Hyland have each tallied six goals. Caroline Washburn has recorded 137 saves in 1060:09 minutes of play for a .692 save percentage.
