Field Hockey Hosts Lafayette in Midweek Clash

PHILADELPHIA - Penn field hockey (3-5, 1-1) hosts Lafayette in a non-conference game Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. on Franklin Field. The Red and Blue hold a 17-12-2 all-time series edge, but fell to the Leopards 2-0 in their last meeting Sept. 17, 2008.

The Quakers are coming off a big Ivy League win, defeating Harvard 4-1 on Saturday. After 1-0 halftime deficit, Sarah Hasson scored the tying and game-winning goal within a minute of each other and Kelsey Tahan and Laurel McGarvie scored a goal apiece to give Penn a 4-1 win.

Hasson, netting three goals this season, and Sarah Warner with a goal and four assists, lead the Red and Blue's offense with six points each, while Tahan, Kirstin Snyder, Annie Matthews, and Katie Rose have each recorded 5 points on the year.

Keeper Kieran Sweeney has started every game in the cage, making 46 saves with a .724 save percentage.

Lafayette comes into Wednesday's contest with a five game win streak. The Leopards are 7-1, gaining their last win from Monmouth in a 3-1 defeat. The Quakers faced Monmouth in their season opener, butfell 2-1 in overtime.

Freshman Deanna DiCroce leads the Leopards, tallying five goals and two assists. Seniors Kelly Hilovsky (3 goals, 3 assists) and Lindsay Majno (3 goals, 1 assist) have also made an offensive impact.

Playing every second in goal, keeper Kelsey Andersen holds a 1.06 goals-against average and .767 save percentage.
