Defeating Saint Francis 5-0 on Sunday, the Quakers came away with their highest scoring game of the year. Freshman Sarah Hasson led the game off with two goals within the first six minutes of play, followed up by Laurel McGarvie's first career hat trick to clinch the win. Keepers Kieran Sweeney and Kat Muller shared equal time in the cage and allowed zero goals.
On the season, the Red and Blue are led offensively by McGarvie and Hasson, each tallying five goals. Also contributing are Kelsey Tahan (seven points) and Sarah Warner (six points), along with Kirstin Snyder, Annie Matthews, and Katie Rose who have each recorded five points. In the net, Sweeney has made 68 saves with a .747 save average in 793:14 minutes of play.
In the Quakers' last two meetings with Drexel, the Dragons came away with the victories, including last year's 6-1 defeat. However, Penn holds the advantage in the all-time series 6-4.
Boasting an 11-2 overall record, Drexel has had an impressive season so far. In their last outing, the Dragons defeated William and Mary 2-1.
Drexel is led by juniors Susan Ciufo with 15 goals and 36 points, and this week's Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week Christina Mastropaolo. Mastropaolo is currently tied for third in the nation in goals per game with1.38 and is fourth in points with 3.23. She needs just one more goal to tie Drexel's program recordof 19goals in a season (held by teammate Ciufo).
