Field Hockey Places Eight on NFHCA Academic Squad

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey had eight members named to the 2014 Gladiator by SGI National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad.

The eight Quakers recognized were – junior Alex Agathis, freshman Gina Guccione, freshman Madison Hendry, junior Elizabeth Hitti, junior Stephanie Honig, senior Alex Iqbal, sophomore Claire Kneizys, and freshman Jasmine Li.

After being named to the 2015 NFHCA Academic Squad, Penn’s Alex Iqbal earned her fourth recognition of her career, Alex Agathis and Elizabeth Hitti both earned their third recognition.

The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.

In addition to the eight individuals recognized by the NFHCA, the Penn field hockey team was also recently named a recipient of the 2014 Gladiator by SGI NFHCA Academic Team Award.

The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that have achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.

The 2014 team award is the ninth consecutive for Penn, dating back to 2006. Click here for the release on the team award.
