Field Hockey Returns to Win Column With Overtime Win Against Dartmouth, 3-2

Hanover, N.H. - Junior Cara Calahan tallied two goalson feeds fromclassmate Kristen Grayto lift the Penn field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field.

Dartmouth (2-1, 2-6) controlled the tempo early on in the contest, picking up the game's firstgoalona penalty corner less than five minutes in. Sophomore Shala Byers scored on a direct corner with assists from senior Allison Welsh and junior Lindsay Gossage. Penn (2-1, 6-4)countered midway through the period when Calahan scored off Gray's assist, but Dartmouth went back on top with 9:38 to go in the half after junior Jessica Saraceno fed Audrey Knutson for a one-timer. Junior Lea Salese tied the game with 15:43 left in regulation when she lofted a shot over Dartmouth goalie Lauren Balukjian. Sophomore goalie Elizabeth Schlossberg made the tie stand with a diving save of Byers' shot with 12 minutes to go. Junior Kelly McFadden contributed a defensive save in the second half for Penn.Calahan tipped in the game-winning goal on Gray's feed 7:33 into the first overtime period to to score her team leading fourth goal of the season.

Schlossberg made eight saves, while Balukijian stopped seven shots. For the game, Penn held advantages in shots (15-14) and penalty corners (15-5). The Quakers are 3-0 in overtime contests this season and have won five of their last six games.

The Red and Blue return to action on Oct. 6 with a Philly City 6 match-up against Drexel on Franklin Field at 7 p.m.
