Field Hockey Set to Play No. 16 Drexel

PHILADELPHIA – The Penn field hockey team is headed down the street to play No. 16 Drexel, Wednesday night at 7 p.m. This city rivalry has been played nine times over the years, and the Quakers currently lead the series, 6-3.

In last year’s matchup, the Dragons narrowly escaped the Red and Blue, 3-2. In that game, Christina Ferrier and Kathryn Burke notched Penn’s goals.

Penn is coming off a road loss to then-No. 1 Maryland, 5-1. Margaretha Ehret scored a goal in the first half to tie the game, but the goal was not enough as the Terps added four more to take the win.

Ehret currently leads the Quakers with six goals and four assists, and is tied for sixth place in the Ivy League with 16 points.

Kelsey Tahan and Stephanie Ragg are in a three-way tie for third with defensive saves in the Ivies with two. Goalie Alanna Butera leads the Ivies in saves, with a total of 76.

Drexel enters this game with a No. 16 ranking, moving up one spot from last week. The Dragons currently post an 11-3 record with all three of their losses coming at the hands of top-20 teams. Most recently, Drexel shut out Old Dominion, 3-0.

Drexel is led by Susan Ciufo who has notched 12 goals and six assists. Goalie Colleen McAndrew has recorded 67 saves and one shutout.
