Philadelphia The Penn field hockey team is headed up the Main Line to play Villanova Wednesday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on Villanova’s Goodreau Field.
The two teams have met 25 times over program history and in 2007 the Wildcats pulled through with a 5-4 win in overtime. The Quakers are hoping this year’s game will go in their favor and the team can collect its second win of the season.
The Red and Blue will be focusing on getting on the board first. Head coach Val Cloud believes that an early lead will be crucial in the game.
“We have been giving up early goals and have been forced to play from behind,” she said. “We need to score first an early goal would increase team confidence that would carry through the game.”
Currently, six Quakers have found the back of the net Seniors Margaretha Ehret, Rachel Eng, and Christina Ferrier led with two goals apiece. Ehret has three assists for a team-high seven points.
Goalie Alanna Butera has recorded 45 saves and one shutout in the first seven games of the season.
Villanova is heading into this match-up with a 7-1 record. Most recently, the Wildcats upset No.17 Rutgers in an impressive 3-1 win.
Dana Ramsden leads the Wildcat offense with seven goals and three assists, including the game-winning goal in the Rutgers upset.
