Field Hockey to Host Harvard

PHILADELPHIA – Penn field hockey team will host Ancient Eight opponent, Harvard, Saturday on Franklin Field at noon.

The Quakers and the Crimson head into the game having played 31 times in program history; Harvard currently leads the series, 18-11-2. In 2007, the Crimson beat Penn, 3-1, in Cambridge. Co-captain Margaretha Ehret notched the lone Penn goal in that contest

Currently, Ehret leads the Quakers with three goals and three assists.

Harvard (2-4, 1-0 Ivy) is coming off its first home loss of the season. It came at the hands of No. 4 UConn, 5-1.

Harvard has six players who have found the back of the net; Tami Jafer leads with 2 goals.

After a well-played game against Villanova on Wednesday, the Red and Blue fell, 2-1, but saw vast improvement which they are looking to continue through the weekend.

In Penn’s matchup against the Wildcats, the Quakers were first on the board. Head coach Val Cloud wants to see the same opening to Saturday’s game.

“Being first to score was important and we played better throughout the rest of the game,” she said. “I want to see the same intensity [for Saturday’s game].”
