PHILADELPHIA - October is the official Breast Cancer Awareness Month of the national Susan G. Komen Foundation and in the field hockey community it is also Play 4 the Cure month.The Penn field hockey program will take part in the nationwide initiative this Sunday when the Quakers host UC Davis at 10 a.m. on Franklin Field.
As part of the movement to support breast cancer awareness, the Quakers will don pink socks with their home uniforms, as well as other pink accessories donated by the movement's official distributor, Longstreth Women's Sports.In addition, the team will be accepting monetary donations that will go directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research and awareness. Last year, over 300 middle school, high school, and college teams took part in the Play 4 the Cure program.
