Field Hockey travels to Vermont

PHILADELPHIA- Coming off its first win of the season, the University of Pennsylvania field hockey team hits the road to Burlington, Vermont to partake in the Sheraton Catamount Field Hockey Classic on Vermont's campus. The Quakers will face the University of Vermont Saturday at 11 a.m. and the University of New Hampshire Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Penn has never played either of these teams before in the program's history.

The Quakers, now 1-2 after their 2-1 victory over Saint Joseph's on Wednesday, are led offensively by junior Annie Matthews and seniors Kelsey Tahan and Sarah Warner. Matthews recorded both goals in the SJU win, while Tahan and Warner have each tallied a goal on the season. Goalkeeper Kieran Sweeney has spent every minute in the cage for the Quakers, recording 15 saves in three games.

The scoop on the opposition...

Vermont: The Catamounts are 0-4 on the season, scoring only one goal overall, and have been outshot 91-18. Megan Maynard netted UVM's lone goal, while keeper Kristen Heavens has made 41 saves this season and boasts a .788 save percentage.

New Hampshire: The Wildcats are 1-2 on the year, with both of their losses coming against ranked opponents. UNH's sole victory came on the road against Brown, 6-1. Meg Shea is the team's top scorer this year with five goals and 10 points in three games. Keeper Katherine Nagengast has started every game this season, holding a 3.33 goals against average and .667 save percentage.
