PHILADELPHIA- The Penn field hockey team lostits secondIvy League matchup of the season,falling toDartmouth, 2-1.
The Big Green was 1-5 going into the game (0-2Ivy League), while the Quakers had been an even 1-1 in Ivy play, and 3-6 overall.
The first score of the game came after 30 minutes of play, when Whitney Waugh scored off a penalty corner.Just 33seconds later, Dartmouth's Stef Millerdoubled the Big Green's lead with anunassisted shot just inside the circle. Dartmouth took the 2-0 lead into halftime.
Penn did notscore until late in the game. With ten minutes left to play, Tracy Statter scored an unassisted goal frominside the circle, giving the Quakers hopes for a late-game comeback. But it was not to be, and the Ivy matchup ended with Dartmouth taking the victory.
Jamie Calahan had two shots on goal in the loss, while Elizabeth Schlossberg had five saves in her 70 minutes of play.
Up next, the Quakers will host their first home game since Sept. 9, as theyplay Lock Haven on Franklin Field nextSunday, October 8 at 1 p.m.
