Field Hockey vs. Cornell Fan Info For Friday

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania field hockey game versus Cornell is still slated for this Friday at noon on Ellen Vagelos C’90 Field. However, parents, fans and supporters may encounter heavier traffic volume, delays and road closures due to the Pope's visit to Philadelphia this weekend.

The city’s current plan calls for road closures on Friday adjacent to campus beginning at 6 p.m. and within campus beginning at 10 p.m. Therefore, Penn Athletics will operate this game under normal conditions. Access to Ellen Vagelos C’90 Field is still available northbound on University Avenue, then turning right onto River Fields Drive. Parking is available for spectators via pay kiosks located at the Hollenback Lot (GPS Coordinates: 39.947472,-75.188009) and River Fields Lot (GPS Coordinates: 39.944559,-75.197223) by Meiklejohn Stadium; however, ALL vehicles must be removed from these lots by 6 p.m.

Alternative traffic routes to campus, avoiding Center City Philadelphia, can be found here.

SEPTA will continue to operate under a normal Regional Rail schedule; however, they anticipate increased ridership and possible delays. For those wishing to utilize SEPTA, several railroad lines make frequent stops at the University City Train Station. Ellen Vagelos C’90 Field is within walking distance from that station. Exit the University City train station heading up the north stairwell (toward Franklin Field). At the top of the stairs, take a right onto South Street. Before the first traffic light, turn right at the Hollenback building and head down the stairs to the parking lot below. Follow River Fields Drive along I-76 past Rhodes Field. Ellen Vagelos C’90 Field entrance is on the right.

SEPTA Regional Rail schedules and travel information for that weekend can be found here.
