PHILADELPHIA – For the third time this fall, University of Pennsylvania freshman field hockey player Alexa Hoover has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors.
The Collegeville, Pa. native was named Rookie of the Week twice in September, and has earned the honor once again after scoring two goals and adding an assist this past weekend.
Hoover becomes the first Penn field hockey player in program historyto earn Ivy League Rookie of the Week three times in a season. She is the 11th individual to do so in league history.
The freshman collected her third assist of the season in Penn’s 4-3 overtime to defeat against Columbia on Saturday.
On Sunday Hoover added to her goal total, recording twoscores against Longwood in a 5-0 victory for the Quakers. The two goals pushed Hoover to double-digit goals on the season with a team leading 11. She now has 25 points in her first season at Penn, with five games remaining on the schedule.
