Five from Women's Squash Head to CSA Individuals

PHILADELPHIA – The College Squash Association Individual Championships begin this Friday at Princeton, and the University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team will send five individuals to compete in the three-day event.

Four Penn players will lay in the top-flight of individuals – ranked No. 1-32 – and for the Ramsay Cup.

Ranked No. 6 individually junior Yan Xin Tan finished the season with a 13-4 record playing in top two spots of the Penn ladder. Sophomore Anaka Alankamony was her counterpart at the top of the ladder for the Quakers and is No. 8 nationally after finishing with an identical 13-4 record.

Joining them in pursuit of the Ramsay Cup will be freshman Marie Stephan, who finished with a perfect 14-0 record, and ranked 10th. Along with No. 22 ranked sophomore Michelle Wong, who finished with a 15-2 individual record.

Playing for the Holleran Cup – individuals ranked No. 33-80 – will be freshman Ali Richmond. She finished the year with a 13-3 record, playing in the seven, eight, and nine positions on the ladder for Penn.

One other Quaker is on the wait list for the individual championships, in case an individual drops out. Sophomore Grace van Arkel will be ready to play after finishing the season with an 11-4 overall record.
