Football Announces Class of 2011

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania has announced its 32-memberfootball recruiting class. The Class of 2011 will join Head Coach Al Bagnoli's program this fall for the 2007 season.

"We feel very good about this year's incoming freshman class," Bagnoli said. "They have the collective potential to be an outstanding class and a valuable addition to our current roster."

Bagnoli added that he and his staff successfully addressed what he felt were the team's most pressing recruiting needs. At the top of the list was placekicking; offensively, it was the line and running back;and defensively, the coaching staff focused on linemen and linebackers.

"In all areas of need we were able to recruit both quality and quantity,"he said."We are optimistic that a few of them have the ability to help us immediately."

Breaking down the Class of 2011...

32 members from14 different states, including five from New Jersey, four from Pennsylvania and three each from New York, Florida and Indiana. Four are from the Philadelphia area: Michael DiMaggio (Sewell, N.J.), Joseph D'Orazio (Bryn Mawr, Pa.), Joseph McKendry (Jenkintown, Pa.), and Ryan Narcum (Exton, Pa.) There are 15 offensive, 14 defensive and three special teams players in the class. On offense there arefive linemen,three running backs, two quarterbacks, two tight ends, two tight end/fullbacks, and a wide receiver. On defense there are four linemen, four defensive backs, three ends and three linebackers. On special teams there are two placekickers and a punter. There is one set of twins, Josh and Nate Powers, and one incoming player who has a brother on the team, Luis Ruffolo, brother of Guillermo Ruffolo. There arethree sets of high schools teammates: the Powers brothers from Hamilton Southeastern in Indiana, D'Orazio and McKendry from St. Joe's Prep in Philadelphia and Trevor Charlston and Brandon Kim from Beverly Hills in California.
