PHILADELPHIA - Media members from the local Philadelphia area and a few national media outlets gathered at Franklin Field on Monday to meet with the 2011 edition of the University of Pennsylvania football team.
As part of the annual Media Day activities for the two-time defending Ivy League champions, players and coaches were escorted through photo shoots with a series of photographers. In between shoots, several of the Penn players and coaches answered questions and discussed the upcoming season with the media.
Though the three-hour media session came to an end before 11 a.m., the players will continue with their preseason camp on Monday with an afternoon practice, weight room workouts and several team meetings.
Penn opens its season at Franklin Field on Sept. 17 against Lafayette at 6 p.m. Many of Penn's skill players remain from the 2010 squad that won its final eight games and went undefeated in Ivy play en route to the program's 15th Ivy League championship. The Quakers were once again selected to finish first in the Ivy League this season and are tied for 24th in the FCS Top-25 Preseason media poll.
