PHILADELPHIA - Local and national media outlets gathered at Franklin Field on Monday morning to meet with the 2013 University of Pennsylvania football team.

As part of the annual Media Day activities for the defending Ivy League champions, players and coaches were escorted through photo shoots with a series of photographers as well as filming spots for the Penn Sports Network. After the team photo, the players are seperated into photos based on region, class year and position. In between shoots, the Penn players and coaches answered questions from the media and discussed the upcoming season.

Though the three-hour media session came to an end around 11:30 a.m., the players will continue with their preseason camp on Monday with weight room workouts, several team meetings and a practice under the lights at Franklin Field.

In addition to the traditional media day festivities, the team used the exposure to unveil new white uniforms with a traditional feel. The new-age Nike uniforms were combined with red and blue striped sleeves to resemble the classic uniform look of past Penn teams from the early-to-mid 1900s. The white uniform will primarily be used on the road. The team also has a new home blue jersey with the classic "Pennsylvania" embroidered across the chest and a new alternate red uniform that debuted three times last season - Penn won all three games.

The Quakers, who were picked to repeat as Ivy champions in the preseason media poll, open their 137th season under the lights at historic Franklin Field when they host Lafayette for a 6 p.m. kickoff on Sept. 21. That matchup will serve as the only night game at the nation's oldest collegiate football stadium this year will also mark the first game on Franklin Field's new SprinTurf.
