PHILADELPHIA - The Penn football program recently concluded its off-season conditioning program with the second annual “Iron Quaker” Max Testing Night.
Under the direction of Head Strength Coach Jim Steel, the squad shattered previous career lifting bests on St. Patrick’s Day in a tension-filled George Weiss Weight Room. Following weigh-in, competition was fierce as players contended by positions in the clean, the bench press, and the back squat. Two other awards were also up for grabs, Best Pound for Pound Lifter and Best Overall Lifter:
Strongest Offensive Skill Position: Michael DiMaggio, RB
Clean = 335 lbs., Bench = 335 lbs., Squat = 405 lbs.
Strongest Offensive Lineman: Tyler Anthony, OL
Clean = 300 lbs., Bench = 330 lbs., Squat = 510 lbs.
Strongest Fullback/Tight End: Justin Cosgrove, FB
Clean = 275 lbs., Bench = 335 lbs. Squat = 450 lbs.
Strongest Defensive Lineman: Derric Bath, DL
Clean = 305 lbs., Bench = 335 lbs., Squat = 450 lbs.
Strongest Linebacker: Jake Peterson, LB
Clean = 335 lbs., Bench = 350 lbs., Squat = 530 lbs.
Strongest Defensive Back: Tyson Maugle, CB
Clean = 325 lbs., Bench = 315 lbs., Squat = 465

With morning conditioning runs and afternoon weight-training sessions over, the Quakers will now focus on the upcoming spring practice schedule which concludes with the Red and Blue Spring Game on Saturday, April 19 at 4 p.m.
