Football Kicks Off 2007 Season Saturday!

PHILADELPHIA - Your Penn Quakers will kick off the football season Saturday against Lafayette at6 p.m.on Franklin Field.

Penn students receive free admission with their PennCard and can enter the stadium at the corner of 33rd and South streets by the "Big Blue Gate" (please note this is a new point of entry). Gates open one hour before game time.

Once you enter the stadium, check out Quaker's Corner which is located in the South West corner of Franklin Field.Thecorner includes inflatable games, music, complimentary toast for the traditional toast toss, temporary tattoos, merchandise, concessions, the Helmet Car, football posters and pocket schedules, and Quaker himself will be there to greet you. Come out to Franklin Field to show your Red & Blue Pride!

Penn has been picked to finish second in the Ivy League's preseason football poll, it was announced at Ivy League Media Day in August. The poll was voted on by media members who cover Ancient Eight football.

The Quakers received 110 votes overall and one first place vote, behind frontrunner Yale, which received 125 votes. Harvard, with 95 votes, was picked third.

Penn returns 16 starters and 36 letterwinners from a team that went 5-5 last year and finished fourth in the Ancient Eight. The Quakers also bring back their leading passer (Robert Irvin), rusher (Joe Sandberg) and tackler (Joe Anastasio).
