Football Moves Into Top 25

TSN Media Poll | FCS Coaches Poll

PHILADELPHIA - By extending the longest active winning streak in the FCS with a season-opening 19-14 victory over Lafayette, the University of Pennsylvania football team moved into the Top 25 Monday. The Quakers are ranked No. 24 in the nation in The Sports Network (TSN)/ Media Poll.

Villanova is ranked No. 1 in this poll, receiving 87 first-place votes. The Wildcats will be Penn's opponent on Saturday night along the Main Line. That matchup will mark the first time Penn has faced the top-ranked team in the country since the inception of the FCS rankings in 1978.

Penn accumulated 364 points to re-enter the TSN Media poll for the first time since the preseason poll was released on August 16. The Quakers ranked 23rd in the TSN preseason poll, but as the last Division I team to play a game this season, the Red and Blue had dropped out of the polls until this week.

The Quakers are the only Ivy League team in the poll and are receiving votes in the FCS Coaches Poll.

Kickoff from Villanova Stadium is at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast locally on the Comcast Network, while the Penn radio broadcast can be heard globally on the Penn Sports Network.
