PHILADELPHIA - Move-in day is annually one of the most stressful and hectic days on the University of Pennsylvania campus, but the senior members of the Penn football team did their best to help out. The team's 18 seniors volunteered some of their spare time Wednesday to help the school's incoming freshmen move into their dorm rooms.
In between Wednesday's team meetings, the two-hour team practice and another set of positional meetings, the players spent most of their morning on Spruce Street assisting the Class of 2013 as they moved into The Quad.
With classes set to begin on Wednesday, Sept. 9, thousands of students are flocking to the Penn campus this weekend to settle into their dorms for the next two semesters. As is custom, the seniors from the Penn football team annually donate their time during this busy stretch to lend a hand in the process.
The preseason schedule continues through Labor Day for the Quakers - the last day of double practices. The typical in-season practice schedule begins the following day and leads up to the team's 2009 season opener against Villanova on Sept. 19. The 7 p.m. game will mark the first night game at Franklin Field since Sept. 15, 2007 (Lafayette).
Season and single-game tickets for Penn football are available through Penn’s website at www.PennAthletics.com. Tickets are also available at the ticket office located at Weightman Hall on 235 South 33rd Street, or by phone at 215-898-6151. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
