Football Sets Spring Schedule; Starts March 18

PHILADELPHIA – Just a few short months ago, the University of Pennsylvania football team finished its best campaign in four years. On March 18, the 2009 journey begins with the first spring practice.

In all, the team will practice 12 times between Wednesday, March 18 and Wednesday, April 8. Of the 12 practices, eight will be in full pads. Rain dates have also been set to ensure the team will get in each allotted practice.

Seventeen starters are returning for the Quakers in 2009, with eight from the offense and six coming back from the Ivy League’s top defense as well as all three of Penn’s kickers.

Penn finished the 2008 season with six wins in its final eight games. The Quakers were 5-2 in the Ivy League, finishing one game behind co-champions, Brown and Harvard.
