PHILADELPHIA - Penn junior Shelby Fortin, a six-time Ivy League champion including three times in the 500 Freestyle, will make her first trip to the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships next week in Indianapolis.
Fortin met qualifying standards for the 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle and 1650 Freestyle with her times from the recently completed 2013 Ivy League Championships. Setting new school records in each event, she won her third consecutive 500 Free title in 4:41.34, and placed second in the 1650 Free (16:15.47) and 200 Free (1:46.67). Those times rank 24th, 32nd and 45th in the nation, respectively.
The 2013 NCAA Division Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will be held March 21-23 at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI. Preliminary heats and finals for the 500 Freestyle will be held on March 21, the 200 Freestyle will follow on March 22, and the 1650 Freestyle will conclude Fortin's Championships on March 23.
