Four Fencers To Compete In NCAA Championships

PHILADELPHIA - Four fencers from the men's fencing team will be competing in the NCAA National Championships, March 25-28 at Harvard University as announced by NCAA on Tuesday.

Junior Jacob Wischnia, sophomores Vidur Kapur and Alex Simmons, and freshman Evan Prochniak were all officially selected to the Championships for their performances at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals last weekend.

Wischnia finished 12th in the epee competition after coming in seeded 12th. Kapur was seeded 11th in foil, but fenced his way in with an eighth place finish. Also in foil, Simmons took third at the regionals after he was seed fifth to begin the event. Prochniak had the highest seed of any Quaker at three and ended up taking third in the event.

Kapur will be making his second trip to the NCAA Championships, while it will be the first appearance for the other three competitors.
