Four Field Hockey Players Earn All-Ivy Nods

Four members of the University of Pennsylvania field hockey team were named to the All-Ivy League team on Thursday afternoon. Senior co-captain Lea Salese and sophomore Elizabeth Schlossberg were named to the first-team for a second-straight season, while seniors Kristen Gray and Cara Calahan received second-team and honorable mention honors, respectively.

Salese, a midfielder, scored eight goals and had three assists for the Red and Blue this season. She led the Ancient Eight in game-winning goals with five. The Livingston, N.J. native is a three time All-Ivy League selection and two-time first-team recipient.

Schlossberg is a two-time first-team selection. Chevy Chase, Md. native posted five shutouts this season, which was a League best. She recorded a goals-against average 1.32 – also a League best - and made 70 saves in the cage.

Gray, a co-captain, received second-team honors for the first time in her career. The Westfield, N.J. native was second on the team in scoring this season with seven goals and two assists. She scored game-winning goals against Columbia and Yale.

Classmate Cara Calahan earned honorable mention All-Ivy League for the first time. The Doylestown, Pa. native was third on the team in scoring with five goals and four assists.

Princeton had five student-athletes selected All-Ivy, while Penn and Brown both had four. Princeton boasted the Ivy League Player of the Year in sophomore Paige Schmidt and Rookie of the Year in Sarah Reinprecht. Princeton won the League title with a 7-0 mark.
