Four Quakers Earn All-Ivy Honors

PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League has announced its All-Ivy teams for the 2006 men's tennis season, and four Penn players have been recognized. The teams are voted on by the conference's eight head coaches.

Sophomore Jason Pinsky and junior Mikhail Bekkerwere unanimousfirst-team selections in singles. Pinksy went 5-2 in the Ancient Eight playing at No. 1 singles. Bekker was 6-1 in the Ivy League at the No. 2 position. He is no stranger to Ivy League honors; he earned first-team as a sophomore and rookie of the year as a freshman.

Freshman Jonathan Boym was named rookie of the year and second-team singles. Boym was 5-2 in Ivy League matches playing at the No. 3 position.

Pinsky and Joseph Lok garnered honorable mention in doubles. They teamed up to go 4-2 in the Ancient Eight.

Under sixth year head coach Mark Riley, Penn finished the regular season 18-6 overall and 6-1 in the Ivy League, clinching a share of its first Ancient Eight title in 35 years. The Quakers also set a school record with a 12-match win streak during the 2006 campaign.
