Schedule of Races
CAMDEN, N.J. - Despite high river levels and a debris-filled course caused by overnight rains, the Penn men's crews raced through to Saturday's finals, with the heavyweight freshman 8 earning a spot in the Grand Final.
The day's race schedulewas altered due to flood control measures being taken following heavy storms overnight, forcing a break during the middle of the day. Racing was futher disrupted in the evening when a thunderstorm moved through the area.
Before the break, the heavyweight varsity 8 took sixth place in its semifinal and will now take part in the Petite Final on Saturday at.1:45 p.m. The Quakers crossed the line in 5:59.26.
The heavyweight freshman 8 was first off following the delay, and the Quakers did not disappoint. The Eastern Sprints champions turned in the third-best semifinal time overall and took second in their semi in 5:53.48, finishing behind Cal's 5:50.53. They will take part in the Grand Final at 12:42 p.m. Saturday.
The heavyweight varsity 4+ could not repeat its performance as Sprints champion, finishing last in the semifinals in a time of 6:49.70. That crew will now compete in the Petite Final at 11:06 a.m. Saturday.
Earlier in the day, the lightweight open 4+ placed third in its repechage and will compete in the Petite Final Saturday at.10:14 a.m.Penn finished in 6:51.62, less than two seconds back of second-place George Washington.
